Happy Birthday to FAMU. As you may already know our founder Castro is an alum of the School of Architecture. As an homage each year we provide scholarships to students in the SAET program in an effort to pass the baton and continue to build community foundation. In Architecture, once a design is complete, the building of the structure starts with the raw materials. In the past, the building of a home started with the lumberjack. FAMU is our home. We got lost in the research of this topic because it was discovered that many black lumberjacks & loggers had been struck from the history books. However, as you know history will also tell you that when faced with a job that required true grit, black people carried the burdon without reward. The original school house at FAMU was built of wood, and we consider the campus to be a safe haven that started with raw materials. Raw materials provided by lumberjacks that we belived looked just like the vast majority of those whom attend FAMU. We took that inspiration had created the COLAC Lumberjack Collection. A two part collection including a Crown and a Green & Black lumber jack to match. Jump on the list now to be informed of the launch this month & Salute to FAMU. We love thee.
