Founded in 1895, Fort Valley State is the only public rural HBCU in Georgia. The university's programs in agriculture and veterinary medicine have made direct contributions to the state's economy and to Black land ownership in the South. The Wildcats have been building something steady and significant in the Georgia Peach Belt for 130 years, and that work continues.
