Norfolk State University was founded in 1935 in the middle of the Great Depression, making it the only HBCU established during that era. Eighty-five students showed up for the first classes knowing that the economy had collapsed and that education was still worth pursuing. The Spartans carry green and gold through Norfolk, Virginia, one of the most significant military and port cities on the East Coast, and the school has been connected to the life of that city in deep and practical ways for 90 years.

Shop the Norfolk State collection at DungeonForward for hoodies, sweatshirts, and tees designed for Spartans who carry their school with pride. Every piece was built with DungeonForward's storytelling-driven approach to HBCU apparel. Students, alumni, and supporters of one of Virginia's largest HBCUs will find their fit here.

MEAC competition, NSU homecoming in Norfolk, and the Spartan Nation energy that comes with representing a school embedded in Hampton Roads. Norfolk sits at the intersection of military culture, coastal life, and a Black community that has shaped this region for generations. NSU homecoming brings Spartans back to a city that moves at its own pace and carries its own weight. This collection was built for those occasions and for every day when Spartans want to wear their colors.

Founded in 1935 and granted full university status in 1979, Norfolk State has built programs in cybersecurity, optical engineering, communications, and social work that have made direct contributions to the Hampton Roads region and to national industries. NSU's optical engineering program is one of only a handful at any HBCU in the country and places graduates at NASA and defense contractors. The school was built during the worst economic collapse in American history by students who needed a way forward, and that founding determination has never left the campus.

DungeonForward is a Black-owned headwear and apparel brand rooted in art, storytelling, and HBCU culture. Every NSU piece in this collection was designed to honor the Spartans and the city they represent. A portion of every HBCU collection purchase supports HBCU scholarships.
